Day 74 Rexburg

Sunday 1st August.
We had arranged with Mike and Lacey to have a day off and take a day trip to the Grand Teton National Park in the hope of seeing Moose and gazing at the spectacular jagged mountain tops. We packed the cooler and jumped in the SUV and headed into the park. We went to the shore of Jenny Lake and munched on our lunch while Nellie was jumping about in the lake attempting to eat the water.
We then split up for a while as Nellie was unfortunately not allowed on the trails. We jumped on a boat across the lake and hiked a good couple of miles to the Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point where we had a great view over the lake and up at the snow capped peaks. We saw lots of chipmunks but still no moose. We took the boat back across the lake to meet the others where they had been enjoying their afternoon in the lake and drying off in the sun.
We drove the remaining loop of the park and stopped at Snake River Lookout which is the ideal photograph point of the Tetons with the river in the foreground. Still with our eyes peeled looking for moose we left the park and stopped in Jackson Hole for a Bubbas BBQ delicious dinner. We drove the 1hr and half journey back to Rexburg taking so many photos of the sunset but still no moose!
Back at the house we chatted some more and did a few chores getting ready for our departure. From the minute we met you both we feel like we have been friends for years, we have felt so comfortable in your home and your company, thanks for everything and we hope we can return the favour in 3 years when you backpack Europe! You were so close to being our favourite hosts, such a shame the lack of moose sighting let you down. Looking forward to touring Utah with you, keep in touch.

  1. What a awsome pic of the sunset! How is everything going so far? how much longer/days are you planning on doing? We have been resting 2 days in Wisconsin, leaving for our last 3 weeks on the road on Thursday. Enjoy yourselves and keep in touch. Paul and Jane
