Not long now!!

With only a week and a bit to go the realisation that we have to cycle a long way has hit us both. Alison is in a bit of catch 22 situation because to get the time off work she has had to do lots of overtime that in turn means there has been no time to train! Not only are we worried about the physical aspect but the other potential banana skin is a strong headwind. The traditional prevailing winds go from West to East but we have decided to go from East to West for two main reasons. Firstly, if we had started in Seattle we would have made it to the Rockies within a week or so. In our limited physical state, it would have been torture to tackle 12000ft hills. By starting on the otherside of the country, our saddle harden bums and legs would have time to strengthen.

Secondly, the time of year we are going means there could be snow on the peaks of the rockies making it too dangerous to pass.

Below it the route we are planning on taking

First Biking Outing - 30 days to go!

Pre Departure.

With just over 30 days to go the realisation of what we are hoping to accomplish is dawning on us. Hence the decision to dust of the cobwebs and test our legs. It was a pleasant journey through Kent with some testing hills. I have downloaded the data that can be viewed above. I intented to use this system during our crossing. The data can be analysed in more depth if you click on the "view details" button.
